From a single beautiful wildflower on the Alaskan alpine tundra, to lush gardens in the peak of summer and brilliant fall foliage, actively being outdoors provides endless inspiration to me. I specialize in vibrant botanical paintings and drawings, starting with field sketches, photographs, careful observation and notes. Once the first layer of paint is on the canvas, I feel a tremendous sense of freedom. This is when the magic happens, layer by layer. Colors get bolder. Shapes come alive. Details get sorted. I take creative liberties. I’m never done until it feels just right.

My formal training is in the fine arts (BFA, Colorado State University) and education (University of Alaska, Fairbanks). After retiring from a teaching career, I am thrilled to be back immersed in my art again. Alaska has been my home for 40 years.
